Sept. 30: New stock, a new dog & new parties

Hurray - the sun's shining! What a brilliant change from yesterday's grey, gloomy weather...

NEW STOCK

It probably won't last long though, so now's the time to get your waterproof dog coats (just check out yesterday's blog entry). We've just placed an order from MySassyDog for some new rainproof coats with removable fleeces.

These are really good-quality jackets that will last forever and keep your dog warm and dry. If you have a short-haired dog that hates going potty in the rain, they are essential. Our chihuahua, Mika, refuses to step outside when it's wet.

The MySassyDog coats come in army green, yellow, red & black (only in a few sizes left in black). Let us know if there's a specific size or colour you'd like so we can make sure we stock it.

We've also placed an order from New York designer Hip Doggie, which designs clothing for celebrity's dogs. They've got some awesome, warm, fuzzy hoodies and cute rain parkas.

All of our new stock should be arriving within the next two weeks. More on that later!

NEW PARTIES COMING UP

Also coming up ... a few Halloween parties we'd like to promote. First of all, we'll be hosting a Howl'aween costume party here at the daycare for customer's dogs only on Friday, Oct. 30th, with lots of spooky photos...

If you're looking for a Saturday party to show off your dog's costumes, there are a couple of big events coming up, hosted by Three Dog Bakery.

The first is being held at their new location in Port Moody on Saturday, Oct. 24th, and the second is held at their Vancouver location on Sat, Oct. 31st. We'll have more info on all these Halloween parties in the weeks to come.

A NEW DOG

We'd like to welcome Taylor (Corgi, pictured above) to the pack! He's a super friendly, happy puppy, who's been running around all morning, making lots of new friends.

He especially likes wrestling with the Maltese puppies (Muggles, Sprokette, Zipper & Rupert), chasing Henna (Boston Terrier), and Jude (puggle), who's been following him around all morning. Jude also really likes Talula, who's pretty shy but seems to like the attention! :-)

We have 30 dogs here right now in daycare, so busy, busy! It's a really good pack - everyone's getting along fabulously. There are lots of little groups of dogs wrestling on the dog beds, playing chase, mingling nicely.

* Pictured right: Check out Bently's adorable bow-tie. He's been super playful today, chasing after Scruffles and Daisy, and wrestling with Katie (Sheltie).

As of 11 a.m., they're still full of energy and having a blast. We'll start lunches in about an hour, but there are lots of feedings today, so check back for an update after 2 p.m.

* Actually, Bella's been super playful today, rolling around with Daisy & Scruffles.

What else is going on? Well, there's too much to write about today, so I'll just mention a few of the games I've witnessed this morning:

* Scooby (Am'n cocker spaniel) playing tug-of-war with Rupert. Scooby's in the Spaw right now, getting a hair cut.

* Pictured right: Henna, Rupert & Taylor playing.

* The Maltese puppies playing a gentle ruff-'n-tumble game all over the dog beds. Muggles, Zipper & Sprokette have had their baths and are getting groomed in the Spaw... they look all fluffy and white right now.

* Umber (chi) and Theodore (Yorkie) have been inseparable, chasing after each other and wrestling, diving under chairs, up on the bench... hilarious.

* Pictured left: Theodore with his girlfriend Katie.

* Nikko (poodle) has been blasting around with Henna, Taylor & Heidi. He just loves to play and has lots of friends here.

* Cookie & Donut (pomeranians) are hanging out with Bailey (Yorkie-cross) & Charlie (Pom-cross) right now, who just arrived. Donut is pretty shy but Katie came up to her and gave her a warm welcome & sniff, making her feel more comfortable. Now they're friends. :-)

* Sebastian is being very cuddly and affectionate today with us humans, and Buttons just gobbled up her lunch with MUCH excitement.

Sept. 29: Wet and wild

All the raincoats are coming out of the closet this morning... both for humans and dogs. As you can see above, Ozzy is looking very stylish in his yellow MySassyDog waterproof coat (they're really good quality jackets, with fleece linings).

He's posing next to our Small Paws rainy day mascot, Rover, also wearing a yellow raincoat.

Our two dogs HATE the wet and Mika won't even go out unless she has a hoodie or jacket on. I took them out with Emma (miniature dachshound) this morning, who also had a little rainproof coat.

The morning walks have been done and lunches are being fed. Scroll down to the end of the blog to see if your dog ate.

* Rico, Gus, Molly (Min Pin cross), Winston (beagle-cross), and Henna (Boston Terrier) have been a little tag-team this morning, chasing each other around both rooms.

* Jasper and Casper (Coton de Tulear) have been joining in the chase game too, and right now are racing around the back ramps with Rico.

What else has been going on?

* Buttons (cockapoo) broke into a little prance today on her walk, which made Pat laugh. She did the same for me yesterday. Right when she gets close to the daycare, she springs into gear, galloping like a horse to the finish line.

* Rupert (Maltese puppy) has been very playful this morning, as always, chasing around anyone who'll wrestle with him (especially Dawson, Henna and Winston).

* That's Rupert pictured left, about to pounce on Henna. Rupert's sister Talula is a little more shy but really likes Dawson (chi) and Snuggles (shih tzu-cross, pictured right).

* Speaking of Snuggles, she's sure settling in here. She's feeling much more confident lately and has made some new friends - especially Rupert and Dawson. She follows Dawson everywhere... :-)

* Rupert's new buddy is Max (Yorkie). As soon as Max arrived, the Maltese pup started pouncing on him, trying to get him to play. Sure enough, the two have become friends.

* Ozzy has also been playing lots with Gus and Henna, and is curled up next to Dawson right now.

* Maggie (Cairns Terrier, pictured right) has been playing wrestle with Rico.

* Sebastian (miniature poodle, pictured below left) went straight up to Dawson when he arrived to start playing.

* I made a little bed for Sheraz (miniature shnauzer) in a cave to take a nap. She likes it. She's been doing lots of mingling and didn't seem to mind the rain too much on her walk.

Sept 28: Small dogs have big hearts

Poodle power!

Here we have (from left to right): Nikko (miniature poodle), Heidi (shnauzer/poodle), Buttons (cockapoo) and Sebastian (mini poodle). All four are very lovable, affectionate dogs.

We've got lots of tiny puppies in here today too, which are getting lots of attention on the walks. Pat was stopped twice this morning by strangers to ask: a) "Are those dogs for sale?" (Muggles & Zipper), and b) "Is that dog neutered? I'd like to breed him." (Theodore).

Nope, and nope. Sorry!

All the best-looking dogs come to Small Paws, that's for sure...

* So right now, the pack of extra-small dogs are rumbling around on the dog beds and playing chase. This includes the Maltese puppies (Rupert, Muggles, Zipper & Sprokette), Dawson (chihuahua), Theodore (Yorkie), Umber (chi), and Mika (chi) and Lexy (chi-cross).

* Buttons is chilling out with Sheraz, Enid (Jack Russell), Sebastian and Talula. Talula made a new friend today - Pepe (Havanese) is really curious in her and has been tagging alongside her. Scroll down to the bottom of this blog for a cute pic of Pepe.

* And then we have the high-energy crew, chasing each other around on the back ramps and playing tug of war with the rope toy. The main leaders in this pack are Bechler (Boston Terrier), Heidi and Nikko, but there are lots of other dogs jumping in and racing around with them.

* Spike (Yorkie) has been playing with Pepe this morning, and LG has been chasing Bechler around. Jasper was running on the ramps after Bechler, and Casper was wrestling Heidi & Nikko at the same time.

* Great to see Scooby (black American cocker spaniel) back again! We were hoping Dempster would come today so they could meet (he's a black Am'n cocker spaniel puppy). But no... next time. Scooby has been playing with Muggles this morning ... he seems to like the littl'uns best.

Sept. 25: Welcoming Jackson to the pack!

In case you missed the announcement yesterday, Small Paws has been voted the #2 dog daycare in Vancouver in The Georgia Straight's 2009 Best of Vancouver competition.

Thanks to everyone who voted for us! We're super excited about this recognition. Small Paws is a small, family-run dog daycare that specializes in small dogs. :-)

... And we would like to introduce a new dog to the pack: Jackson! He's an 18-month-old border terrier-cross (pictured below) who's getting along fang-tabulously with all the other dogs today, running around with the pack straight away. He's also really friendly with the humans here, and loved his walk. What a cutie!



























So what's been going on today? Well, the morning walks are done and the dogs have been playing chase and ball all morning.

The lunches have been fed (scoll down to the bottom of this page to see if your dog ate), and we'll start round two of walks at around 2:30/3.

Here's a few highlights of the morning:

* Rupert (Maltese pup) is our Mr. Socialite of the day, running around with everyone and trying to entice them to play. His best friends are Henna (Boston Terrier), Emmi (Italian Greyhound), Sofie (Yorkie, pictured left) and Dempster (American cocker spaniel). Oh - and of course Dawson (chi), pictured below.


















* Dempster's also been having a blast running around with Heidi (shnoodle) and Rico (pug-cross). These three are a little trio of wrestle-mania/chase games.


* Spike and LG have been running around with Heidi as well, but the funniest thing I've seen this morning was these two wrestling Mika (chi) and Lexy (chi cross). Little Mika went into warrior mode, snarling and trying to bite at LG's ears. All in good fun, of course.

* Hey, what's with the funny face, LG? (pictured left).

* Rupert's sister Talula is still a little timid, but she seems to really like Dawson, the chihuahua puppy. Talula has also been hanging out with Rosita (shih tzu), who can also be on the shy side. Both girls are great with us humans. :-)

* Buttons (cockapoo) showered Sofie (Yorkie) with kisses when she came in. You don't see that every day! She also had lots of energy on her walk this morning.

* Enzo (miniature dachshound) sure has become a popular little guy at daycare this week. He's made lots of new friends and is very playful.

* We haven't seen sisters Peanut (Min Pin) and Emmi (Italian Greyhound) for a while... welcome back, girls! Looks like they've been making up for lost time: Emmi has been playing wrestle with Rupert, and even Peanut was playing today - doing a pounce/paw game with Rico.

* Pictured left: Rico putting a protective arm around Dawson. Sebastian (miniature poodle) also loves Dawson. They're like the cool older brothers.


* Cookie and Donut (pomeranians) were a little shy coming in, but are now running around with the pack and doing a bit of playing.

* Sofie (Yorkie), Max (Yorkie) and Rupert have a little wrestle-chase game going on right now. They're all so little and have a similar playing style: chase, pivot, pounce!

* Theodore (Yorkie) is playing tug of war with Rico and Henna right now. Game on!

Small Paws voted #2 dog daycare in Vancouver!

We have some exciting news…

Small Paws Doggie Daycare has been voted #2 dog daycare in all of Vancouver by some 100,000 voters in The Georgia Straight’s Best of Vancouver competition, announced today!

Thanks to everyone who voted for us. We’re a small, family-run operation and it’s a huge accomplishment for us to gain such recognition in just 1 ½ years.

* Here's a pic of Max (Yorkie) sticking out his tongue! "Na, na, na, na, na... come 'n get me!" He's been playing lots with Jones (Bishon) this morning. Too cute. Jones has also been chasing Nikko around. Nikko's been having a blast playing with all his furry friends this week.

* Snuggles (shih tzu-cross) has been following Dawson everywhere. She was hilarious on the walk today with Pat and jumped into the mail truck to say hello. Don't worry - we know the mail lady... her dog Tuka comes here.

* Buttons (cockapoo) also was really excited to see Tuka's mom on the walk, too, and gave her lots of kisses.

* Jude (puggle) arrived at mid-day and got the pups all re-energized! He's been running around with Winston (beagle-cross), Henna (Boston Terrier), Enzo (miniature dachshound) and Jasper & Casper (Coton de Tulear). Enzo loves wrestling with his buddy Winston!

* Henna has also been playing with Nikko and chasing/tackling Rupert (Maltese puppy). Rupert looooves Henna (the two of them pictured left).

* Dawson (chi) has been in a play-pack with her usual suspects: Ozzy (Min Pin), Mika (chi), Lexy (chi-cross), Rupert and a new contender... Enzo! Dawson has also been playing with her "bigger" buddy, Sebastian (miniature poodle).

* Emma (miniature dachshound) is Enzo's female twin. She was greeted with lots of kisses from her buddies Mika (chi), Lexy and Enzo. She seems really happy today.

* Oh, forgot to mention there are two Mika's here today. Mika (Maltese) really likes her little Maltese friend, Rupert, and the other Mika (the chihuahua).

Sept. 23: Sunny day, happy dogs

It's a gorgeous, sunny day - awesome weather for dog walking! The sun is spilling through the big front windows here at the daycare, creating a nice light for taking photos.

As you know, Wednesdays tend to be our busiest days. We've got a great pack in here today (26 in daycare as of 11 a.m.), and the Spaw is busy in the back. So that means more pix and less blabbing on below... more time for dog walking and playing with the pups!

First of all, we'd like to say welcome back to Tuka (American Eskimo), Bobo (maltipoo) and Maggie (Cairns Terrier), who've all been away for a couple of weeks. A big congrats to Bobo's parents, who just got married in Alaska. Incredible photos... :-)

I love the photo of Tuka above, on his back. And check out the pic of Maggie below, yawning. Take a look at those sparkling white gnashers!



























Also, hello again to Mister (miniature dachshound-cross, pictured right), who's back for his second day at daycare - and having a blast! What a friendly little dog.

Sept. 22: Welcoming Ellie & Jojo to the pack

Say hello to our two new furry friends, Ellie (malti-pom) and Jojo (pomeranian), pictured above. They're both two years old, super friendly, and integrated really well into the pack.

They're really good buddies and are inseparable, following each other everywhere. They've made a lot of new friends here today and are gaining their confidence.

It's a GORGEOUS day out there today and you know we love to get outside with the dogs, so I'm going to do less typing and post more photos. The morning walks are done and we're about to start the lunches soon, and then round 2 of walks!

Here's today's group photo, taken at about 10:30 this morning. Nikko is missing out of the photo because he didn't feel like posing, and Sebastian arrived after the pic was taken, so we are missing a couple of faces:

Sept. 21: Hello Enzo!

He's doing great for his first day, making lots of new friends. Right now he's chasing Bechler (Boston Terrier) around. He also really likes Dawson, the little chihuahua.

What an awesome, sunny day for dog walking! Everyone's been out for their morning walks, and we'll take them all out again this afternoon.





Speaking of walks, little Zipper (Maltese puppy, pictured left) was so excited on her walk with Buttons (cockapoo) this morning, she was prancing and hopping through the grass. Here's a "before" shot of her, to the left....


... and an "after" shot, to the right. Oops, a little soggy. But don't worry, she's dried up nicely. :-)


* We've got lots of little pups in here today. They're romping around on the pillows, playing chase and wrestling. There's the three Maltese puppies (Zipper, Muggles & Sprokette), the little chihuahuas: Paris, Mika & Dawson, and the little Min Pin, Ozzy. Jones (Bishon) has been playing with these pups, too.


* Henna (Boston Terrier) was soooo excited to come in this morning, she was scratching at the gates! She started playing with Bechler (another Boston) straight away and has been playing ball and chasing after Zipper as well.

* Sebastian (miniature poodle) has a twin brother here today (not really, but they sure look alike). Nikko! Seb's also been playing with his little girlfriend, Dawson.

* Bechler loves Nikko (miniature poodle), as does Henna! Nikko really likes Heidi (shnoodle). Heidi has also been bombing around with Jasper, Casper, Bechler & Henna. Pepe (Havanese) is right in there, too. He was so excited to come play today. :-)

* Jasper and Casper have been super playful this morning. Jasper has been chasing Zipper and Muggles around, and wrestling with them on the dog bed. Casper's been playing with Heidi and Bechler.

Sept. 18: Happy, happy Friday

As of noon, there are 23 dogs here, and it's a high-energy bunch. They've been playing chase, running after the ball, and rolling around in little play-packs.

* Chili (chi-shihtzu) is a fairly new dog. He's gaining confidence each time he comes, and today was playing with Molly and Sasha (Papillon). Sasha's new friend!

* As I said earlier, the dogs have been playing non-stop all morning. Frankie, Molly, Jude and Gus have a little pack going, wrestling away and playing tug of war. Emmi has also been chasing Gus, and playing with Henna.

* Henna, Dempster, Theodore, Spike & LG have been chasing after the ball. Spike & LG have also been wrestling with Heidi and chasing Frankie around. LG actually got a little excited today and had to be put in time out for a few mins.

* Heidi's also been playing with Jones... and, well, pretty much everyone. Both Heidi and Jones are little socialites.

* Theodore's been playing ball too, and he's also been playing tug of war with Gus (American cocker spaniel) and Henna (Boston Terrier). Pretty funny because he's so much smaller than them!

* Dawson has been playing with Sebastian, Mika, Paris & Molly. This is Paris's second day at daycare and she's made lots of new friends!

* Buttons's best friends here are our two: Mika and Lexy, and little Dawson. Yesterday, Bailey (Yorkie-chi) was soooo excited to see her, and kept trying to play with her. Buttons doesn't mind little Bailey but plays it cool. Very cute.

Sept. 16: Hello Mister!

The class of Thursday, Sept. 17:

We'd like to introduce a new dog to the pack - Mister! He's a very friendly miniature dachshund/chi cross (pictured below). He's used to being at daycare and is super friendly and confident, doing lots of playing and running around with the other dogs.

His new buddies today are Winston (beagle-cross) and LG (Yorkie-cross) and he's very friendly around us humans. What a good boy. :-)

* Spike (Yorkie) has also been playing with these guys in a fast game of chase.

* Happy to see Bailey and Charlie here today. Bailey (Yorkie-chi) is very interested in Mister and was happy to see his friend Buttons (cockapoo)... and also us humans! His brother Charlie (pom-chi) has been chasing after the ball with Jasper (Coton de Tulear).

* Buttons has an admirer in Dawson. The little chihuahua puppy keeps trying to jump on her back - and Buttons doesn't mind.

* Umber (chi) is making a very funny squeaky noise right now, playing with Dempster (American cocker spaniel, pictured left). She's also had a crash-wrestle match with Dawson and has been chasing Lexy (chi-cross).

* Casper has been chasing Winston around this morning, and wrestling with his brother, and Jasper was chasing after the ball (as mentioned above). Henna (Boston Terrier) has also been playing ball. We have pix of her every day with a ball in her mouth! LOL.

* Dempster's been wrestling with Henna and playing lots with Umber and Lexy. He's a very playful little guy.

* Max (Yorkie) looooves Dawson. His new girlfriend? Too cute seeing these littlun's wrestling together. Max hops like a bunny rabbit (pictured right). Sebastian has also been playing lots with Dawson today - he went up to her straight away!

* Marcello arrived later in the afternoon and took his perch on the bench. Who's the king of the castle? Dawson greeted him with kisses, and he's been doing a bit of mingling.

Sept. 15: Say hello to Paris!

This is Paris, a five-month-old chihuahua puppy. It's her first day at daycare and she was a little nervous at first but is now running around with the pack, gaining her confidence. She's already very affectionate with the humans.

It can be hard to give these little dogs the socialization they need with other dogs because they often freeze up at a dog park, being surrounded by bigger dogs. So we're really happy with her progress so far. Plus, she's adorable!

Here's today's group photo. Check out Paris sitting with Mika (chi) on the black camping chair. We also have two other chihuahua puppies here today: Umber & Dawson. Paris especially likes Dawson and Molly.

So the morning walks have been done and lunches fed. What a gorgeous day out there!

Sept. 14: Play, play, play

A fun, furry crowd in here today. Right now, the high-energy pups are chasing each other around on the red ramps in the back.

Check out this hilarious photo of Heidi (shnoodle) to the left. It's like she's kicking her head back, laughing!

The extra-wee ones have their own little pack going, wrestling gently in the front room.

The morning walks are done and we're nearly through feeding lunches. Here's what's been going on:

* In the pack that's playing chase right now, we have Bechler (Boston Terrier), Heidi (shnoodle), Jasper & Casper, Spike & LG, and Muggles.

* Best Dressed competition winners go to the Maltese puppies: Muggles, Zipper & Sprokette. The girls have these adorable little dresses on and Muggles has a Hot Wheels "official mechanic" t-shirt.

* LG seems have a little infatuation for Zipper (pictured left, with her pink hoodie up), following her around everywhere. Maybe it's her new dress. :-)

* Buttons (cockapoo) has a not-so-secret admirer. Little Muggles is trying to woo her by following her and trying to get her to play with him. Buttons is playing hard to get, though. She's more interested in her yummy lunch.

* Dawson (chi) is Little Miss Popular today, frolicking around with most of the doggies - both "big" and small. She was chasing Sprokette and Zipper when they came in, and then Rupert (also a Maltese puppy), and a minute ago was playing with Sebastian (miniature poodle). Sebastian's also been chasing Bechler around.

* Ozzy (Min Pin) has been playing with Zipper & Dawson. And Linus (miniature dachshund) has been playing with Dawson, and giving Max (Yorkie) kisses. Max really likes little Sprokette. His new girlfriend?!

* Rupert's also been playing ball with Muggles and Zipper. Talula (pictured above left, on the chair) has been playing with her brother, Rupert.

* Sheraz (miniature shnauzer) received a warm welcome from our two - Mika and Lexy - who showered her with kisses and affection. Sheraz gets along great with all the dogs here.

Love this shot above of Maltese puppies Sprokette, Muggles & Rupert. Zipper (also a Maltese pup), Charlie (maltipoo) and Coco (shih-apso with the coolest haircut) have been having a blast with these little guys, too.

* Rupert has also been playing with Dawson (chi). His sister, Talula, is getting more confident each visit and has been going around sniffing other dogs and saying hello. Good girl. :-)

Okay, so what else has been going on today? Well, it's 12:30 as I start typing this and the morning walks have been done. What an awesome, sunny day for taking the dogs out!

Pat is feeding lunches, and the pups are still all running around.

* Little Charlie is back after a summer hanging with mom and dad, and we're super happy to see him! He's a squirmy, happy pup, frolicking around with his friends. Right now, he's playing with Pebbles (black maltipoo - she just arrived), and was just trying to play with Chili (chi-cross).

* Guess who's also been playing with Chili? Rico! (pug cross). Rico's also been playing tug of war with Gus (Am'n cocker spaniel) and Muggles.

* Frankie (Boston Terrier) has been chasing the littl'uns, Muggles and Dawson, around.

* Chopper (chi-pom) paid us a visit this morning. Darn, I missed it. Nigel tells me he was really excited to come in and visit everyone.

* Snoopy's here today! We call him "Hef," short for Hugh Hefner, because he's an old guy but the ladies love him, and always follow him around and lather him with kisses. The boys love him too, as you can tell in this photo with Muggles.

* And then we have our Very Good Girl club: Buttons (cockapoo), Sheraz (miniature shnauzer) and Mico (shih tzu).

* What else is going on? Linus (miniature dachshund) is chilling out right now, Spike and LG have been playing with Muggles and chasing after the ball, and Cookie & Donut (pomeranians) have been wrestling with each other and hanging out with the pack.

Sept. 10: Dogs jumping for joy

The sun is out, and the pups are leaping for joy. Just check out this action shot of Molly springboarding up for a treat!

An action-packed morning it has been, that's for sure. The morning walks are done, lunches fed, and it's gorgeous afternoon walking weather, so we'll be heading out again at around 3 p.m.

* We'd like to welcome back Geo (Boston Terrier-cross), who we haven't seen for a while. She's super happy, buzzing around and playing lots with Umber (chi), Winston (beagle-cross), Henna (Boston) and Molly. Oh yeah, and chasing Jasper & Casper all over the ramps.

* Henna looooves Geo - her new best friend! Her other favourite pasttime is chasing after the ball with Jasper & Casper, Spike & LG, Dempster (American cocker spaniel) and Theodore (Yorkie).

* Theodore (Teddy) is pretty tough competition on the ball-chasing front. Look out for this feisty little guy! Today he's been sharing his ball with Henna. 2 p.m. update: We took the ball away, and Teddy is playing with Umber.

* Spike & LG spent the morning wrestling Winston and chasing Jasper, Casper, Winston & Geo around from room to room.

* Happy family Muggles, Zipper & Sprokette (all tiny Maltese pups; Sprokette pictured right in the chair) have been a white bundle of playtime joy, chasing each other, and wrestling Jasper & Casper and Dempster. Dempster's best buds today are Molly and Henna.

* The puppies also love Buttons and shower her with affection. Buttons is especially curious and friendly around the two tiny females, Zipper & Sprokette.

* Umber's best friends today are Zipper (Maltese puppy) and Geo.

Sept. 9: It's raining dogs

Say hello to the new Maltese puppy, Rocco! Isn't he sweet? He has an appointment for the Spaw today to get handsome-ified.

Rocco's the new brother of Bella (Maltese). Here's an "after" shot of Rocco, to the right, after his groom.

We sure have a lot of Maltese puppies in here today: Rocco, Rupert, Muggles, Zipper & Sprokette! All of them are probably under five pounds and little balls of white fur. They've got a playful little pack going on.

It's been raining on and off all morning, so the walks were a little soggy, to say the least. Thank goodness for indoor dog daycares - everyone's nice and dry inside.

* Bella (chi-Jack Russell cross), is a feisty little thing. She definitely picks her doggie friends around here, and today her little buddy is Rocco. She also likes Enid (and vice versa!).

* Enid's a Jack Russell. This is a funny pic to the left of Angie holding Enid. Enid looooves Angie and keeps jumping on her lap to give her kisses!

* It's Rupert and Talula's second day of daycare. Rupert is having a blast, especially with Rocco, and Talula is getting more confident. She's been going up to other dogs and sniffing hello.

* Rico (pug cross) has been playing chase with Gus (American cocker spaniel), Jasper & Casper. They've been running fast, all over the red ramps in the back room. Jasper has also been wrestling with little Muggles, the Maltese pup, and Casper really likes Gus, Muggles & Rupert.

Sept. 8: Say hello to Rupert and Talula!

We have two new dogs here today: Rupert (a four-month-old Maltese puppy) and Talula (Maltese/Yorkie).

It's their first day, so they're both a little shy, but they seem to like the little Maltese puppies (just Rupert's size).

Here's a photo of the two of them together, posing on our awesome new dog bed (Huge thanks to Buttons's family for this!!). Buttons was funny on her walk today - she had a spurt of energy and wanted to gallop. She must have liked her walking buddies: Pat and Umber (chi).

LG's also been chasing Muggles around. They've been playing leapfrog over Sheraz (miniature shnauzer).

* Molly (Min Pin) has been staying with us for boarding but goes home today. She's had a lot of fun playing with all the dogs and getting loads of exercise. Muggles, Zipper and Sprokette have also been staying with us. They've been very good and having lots of fun!

* Little Dawson (chi) has been wrestling with Molly and Ozzy (Min Pin), plus Umber, Zipper and Rupert. Ozzy loves his girlfriend Dawson, and especially likes chasing the little dogs, like Muggles and Molly. Umber's also been playing with Rico. Katie's been playing with these dogs too, in a very gentle wrestle/leap/prance dance.

* Marley (Havanese) and Jones (Bishon) have been going at it all morning, playing chase. Sasha (Papillon) just arrived and has joined in the fun, playing mostly with Jones. Sebastian likes Jones, too.

Sept. 4: Say hello to Teddy, Henna and Chili!

It's Friday! Just a reminder that we will be closed on Monday (Sept. 7) for the Labour Day holiday.

Nigel's taken loads of great pix today so I'm going to run lots of them below...

First of all, we'd like to introduce a couple new dogs to the pack: Teddy, a Yorkie-Poo, the little black cutie sitting on the pink chair. He's very playful, chasing and wrestling with Sofie (Yorkie, pictured left on her back) and Umber (chi).

Next is a picture of Henna (Boston terrier, with a ball in her mouth), who comes to visit when her mom's on holiday. We haven't seen her for a while - welcome back, Henna!

And the third photo is of a new dog called Chili (a chi/shih tzu), who is right now hanging out in the small room with a few of the littl'uns: Molly, Dawson, Mika, Lexy and Umber.

Well... LG (Yorkie-cross) was being Mr. Bossy when he arrived this morning, trying to assert his authority among the other dogs. He's calmed down now though and has been playing with Spike, Jasper and Casper and Heidi. This pack has been zooming around... the best of friends.

So the morning walks are done, lunches are fed, and the sun is peaking through the clouds. This is just a few of the adventures we've had so far today:

* Little Chloe (maltipoo) just arrived and started playing with Dawson (chi) straight away. The two of them are pictured left. Chloe seems to like the really little pups - she's also getting along fang-tabulously with Mika (chi), Lexy (chi-cross) and Theodore (Yorkie).

* Maggie (Cairns Terrier, pictured right with her paw planted on the ball) has been wrestling with Molly (Min Pin cross), and Molly has had a three-way rolly-polly game of wrestle earlier with Dawson and Mika.

* Forgot to mention this in yesterday's blog: Buttons (cockapoo) made a new friend yesterday called Sprokette (a tiny Maltese puppy). Boy, was Buttons ever curious in her! She was following her everywhere, sniffing and almost protecting her like her mom. At the moment, Buttons is sharing her favourite quiet spot on the blanket with Dawson.

* Sheraz (miniature schnauzer) was such a good girl on her walk today. When Pat took her out with Molly, they came across another dog on the street called Teddy. Well, Teddy and Molly started barking, going nuts! But Sheraz was so calm and cool, just waiting patiently for everyone to calm down. Good girl. :-)

* Maximus (terrier) also really enjoyed his walk, tail wagging excitedly! And the other Maximus (Yorkie) has been playing ball, and chasing after Heidi.

* Oh, Theodore (Yorkie) just arrived, and it's GAME ON. A whole pack of them are chasing after the ball: Jasper, Casper, Maximus (Yorkie), Mico (shih tzu), Lexy and Lola (cockapoo).

* Lola, Theodore, Maximus (Yorkie) Jasper and Casper are especially loving this fetch game. Lola's full of energy today - she's also been wrestling Maximus (Yorkie) and right now is playing tumble with Bobo (maltipoo). Bobo sure was excited when he came in here, and has been wiggling around ever since, playing with his friends (especially Lola).

* Right now, LG is playing tug of war with Theodore.

* Mico (pictured left) was like a celebrity when she arrived, greeted by all the dogs with loving hellos. The pups (and humans) sure love her. She was trotting with the pack after the ball a minute ago.

* Sebastian (miniature poodle) was doing some good playing this morning as well, with the littlest dog in the room, Dawson.

Sept. 2: Introducing Max, Sprokette & Snuggles

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We have two new dogs here today: Max (Yorkie, pictured below) and Sprokette (Maltese puppy - pictured above). Also, there are a couple of fairly new faces: Niko (poodle) and Snuggles (shih tzu cross).

It's a busy day (as you can tell by Nigel's awesome group photo below!), so I'm going to load up the blog with pix instead of words to save time. Pix are more fun than me babbling on, right?

It's been playtime all morning, and we still have more afternoon walks and potty breaks to come!

The morning walks are done, lunches are being fed, and the fur's-a-flyin' in the back room (in the Spaw).

This photo just makes us chuckle... he looks adorable.

* Dempster's a super playful American cocker spaniel puppy. He made a new buddy today called Gus (Yorkie-cross). The two of them have been chasing tails all morning.

* Gus has also been playing with Marley (Havanese); Marley loves Jones (Bischon) and Mika (chi) also.

* Oh, you should see Mika and Dawson (chi) going at it today. They're both tiny chihuahuas and have this similar dance/tail wag/chase game going on. They run from one room to the other, crouch down and pounce at each other. Very entertaining.

* Molly (Min Pin cross) and Lexy (chi-silky) joined in on the Mika/Dawson chase game, too. Molly's also been wrestling Jude (puggle)... Dawson looooves Jude, too.

* Casper has been very playful today and full of beans, giving Scruffles kisses and chasing her around the room (girlfriend/boyfriend?) Unfortunately, Jasper's not feeling too hot, and is kinda lying low today. He didn't eat any lunch (Casper ate though).

* Buttons (cockapoo) has been roaming around with the pack. Right now she's one of the few dogs NOT trying to steal Pat's lunch of tuna salad. Ha ha! She's sitting politely and watching all the little beggers giving Pat their cutest puppy dog eyes.

* Scruffles has been wrestling with Gus (pictured left) and playing with Casper (as mentioned above).

* Spike and LG have been playing with Marley (surprise, surprise!). Marley's been on holidays, so they're catching up on lost time. Sebastian (miniature poodle) has also been cuddling up to Marley, and playing chase with Scruffles.

* Sasha (Papillon) just arrived and is squirming around, tail wagging her entire behind excitedly, saying hello to everyone.

* Enid's been pretty laidback today, just mingling with the dogs, and right now resting on her pillow. She loved her walk outside.
