July 31: Introducing... Coco

We have a new puppy here today called Coco (shih apso), pictured sitting in my camping chair. Isn't she adorable? A little ball of fur.

She just loves to play, and is fitting in really well with the littl'uns: Dawson (chi), Muggles (Maltese), Jones (Bischon), Zipper (Maltese) and Ozzy (Min Pin). These pups have been chasing each other around all morning. Heidi (shnoodle) has been in there too, mostly wrestling with her buddy Ozzy.

* Muggles has also been wrestling with Lola (cockapoo) and Zipper has been chasing Jones, Danger (Maltese) and LG around.

* Cookie and Donut (both Pomeranians) are here for their second day and are doing great, gaining confidence. They're a little tag-team and like playing with each other.

The morning walks are done, and Pat's feeding lunches right now.

* So what else is going on? Well, Buttons (cockapoo) enjoyed her walk today. Must be a sign it's not as hot as it was yesterday.

* Gus (American cocker spaniel - pictured left) has been playing tug-of-war with LG (Yorkie-cross) and little Dawson and Frankie (Boston Terrier). Spike (Yorkie) has also been chasing these guys around, and Frankie's been doing this little dance-play manoevre with Tofu.

* Tofu and Heidi (shnoodle) have been getting up on their hind legs to paw each other in the air at each other. Also in this play-pack is Bobo (maltipoo), who's been wrestling and chasing Gus lots, and Lola (cockapoo), who loves Tofu. Mico (shih tzu) really loves Lola and gave her lots of kisses. What a sweetie.

July 30: Cooling off in the pool

It's just a dog bowl, but for little Dawson (chi), it's almost big enough to take a bath in! Here she is, dipping her paws.

Thank goodness we bought a 2nd air conditioning unit recently - we've got the two of them cranking. Yesterday was the hottest day in Vancouver's history, but it was pleasantly cool in here.

We've been starting the morning walks really early because of the heat, and the afternoon walks are more like quick potty breaks. It's just too hard on the littl'uns to be outside right now.

They've been chasing each other around all morning, and right now Pat is feeding lunches. Scroll down to see what your dog has been up to so far (note there are two Ozzy's, two Maximus's and two Spike's here).

* All the dogs would like to say a big THANK YOU to Buttons and her lovely family for bringing them some new (organic) squeaky toys to play with. Oh boy, they're a hit! Buttons didn't want to walk far this morning (too warm). She's been chilling out with Maximus (black terrier), Mico (shih tzu) and Snoopy.

* Right now, Dawson is playing with Ozzy (Min Pin), Henrik (chi), and Muggles and Zipper (Maltese). They're in the small room, hanging out with Emma (miniature dachshund). Emma really likes Henrik - they were doing a little play-chase game. Our two dogs, Mika and Lexy, are also in there.

* In the big room, Jones (Bischon), Danger (Maltese), Ozzy (Yorkie-poodle - pictured right) are going at it. Wrestle mania. Sasha (Papillon) just arrived and is chasing Ozzy around. Game on!

* Now we'd like to introduce four new faces to the pack. Pictured above from left to right are: Pozi (Maltese), Juno (chi), Donut (Pomeranian) and Cookie (Pom). They're all doing great and making lots of new friends. Pozi (pictured right) is 1 1/2 years old and this is his first day so he's doing brilliantly so far, playing with Leroy (Cairns Terrier-mix) and getting along great with everyone.

* Little Juno reminds us so much of our Lexy (chi-silky cross). She especially likes Henrik (chi). Henrik's also been chasing Maximus (Yorkie) around and loooooves Dawson and Danger.

* Cookie and Donut (pictured left) have been here for grooming before, and have mingled with some of the dogs before after getting their hair done in the Spaw. On their first day they were a little nervous, but they sure are doing better today!

* Scooby (American cocker spaniel) has been chasing after the ball and playing with Maximus (Yorkie - pictured right with Henrik). Spike (Yorkie) and LG (Yorkie-cross) have also been zipping after the ball, and also chasing Jones and Ozzy. LG entertained us again today by chasing his tail.

July 29: Waggin' Wednesday

First of all, happy belated birthday to Gus! The American cocker spaniel (pictured left with Pepe) turned one last week.

As you can see from today's class photo, we're having another busy Wednesday. The fur's-a-flyin' in the Spaw in the back room, too.

* Right now we have the dogs divided into two rooms, for maximum playtime potential. Hanging out with Emma (miniature dachshund) in the small room are Dawson (chi), Muggles and Zipper (both Maltese pups), Mika (Maltese), Mico (shih tzu) and Umber (chi). They've been chasing each other through the blue tunnel and wrestling on the dog beds. Emma has a delicate back so she's not running around, but enjoys the company.

* Earlier, we had most of the dogs in the one big room, and Daisy (shih tzu) was so cute, wrestling with Muggles and Zipper. She's in the Spaw right now, getting her summer hair cut.

* Pictured left: Ozzy wrestling Gus. Ozzy's also been playing with his girlfriends, Molly and Dawson.

* In the big room, there's Jasper, Casper, Spike, LG, Scooby, Leroy, Gus, Maggie, Tofu and Pepe all doing loop-de-loops around each other. They've had some good matches of tug-of-war with the rope toy, and been chasing after the ball and zooming around on the ramps (one of their favourite chase games).

* Tuka (American Eskimo) has left already, but he likes to take his perch on the bench to watch all the energetic dogs run around at his feet. His mom says he's a little devil at home, but we just don't see it?! LOL.

* Pictured left: LG hangs loose on the pink chair.

* Jones (Bischon) and Danger (Maltese), the two little white dogs, have been inseparable again today. Danger loooooves her. He looked a little sad when we pulled her away to get her hair cut in the Spaw. She sure looks and smells good. ;-) These two have also been hanging out with Bella (Maltese) and Bella (chi). Yes, two Bellas!

* Spike (shih tzu - not Yorkie Spike) and Diamond (Papillon) are chilling out on the dog beds. Buttons is relaxing, too, after her delicious lunch.

July 28: Hot doggie day

It's a scorcher out there today. We've got the air con on full blast in here and it's sooooo nice. Morning walks are done and Pat is feeding lunches right now.

* I love this photo to the left of Molly (Min Pin cross) & Ozzy (Min Pin) at playwar... just look at those jaws going at it! We have another cute pic of them playing with Dawson (chi). Dawson's also been playing with Winston (beagle-cross), and Ozzy's been chasing Casper (Coton de Tulear) around.

* Leroy's got a new buddy - Doogie the Jack Russell Terrier. Together with Winston and Rico (pug-cross), the furry foursome have been playing and chasing up a storm!

* And then we have the pack of little white dogs: Jasper (Coton de Tulear) has been playing with Tofu (Bichon Frise - pictured right) and Danger (Maltese) and Jones (Bichon), plus his brother, Casper.

* Danger and Jones are little wrestle-buddies, never far from each other's side. Bobo (maltipoo) has been in there too, but he's also been chasing the bigger kids - Winston and Doogie. Tofu's been really friendly with everyone and especially likes Ozzy and Muggles.

* Diamond (Papillon) and Spike (Shih tzu) are hanging with Buttons (cockapoo). They're lounge buddies. Pepe (Havanese) is having a pretty chilled day, too. He's just been hanging with the pack and doing a bit of running around. He tends to spring into break-dancing life in the afternoon.

* Then we have the tiny pack, coming in size XS to S. These guys are adorable. There's Muggles and his sister Zipper (both toy Maltese) and little Dawson (chi). The three of them are pictured left, sitting on a chair. They're also buddies with Max and Bently (both Yorkies).

* Bently loves wrestling with Muggles, and Max has also been playing with Jones. Also in their pack: little Theodore (another teacup Yorkie), who likes to play chase with both the little and "big" kids. Tonka has also been playing lots with Jones, doing his typical head-butting play game. He's also been chasing Winston and Doogie.

* Pictured left: Molly and Ozzy grapple for the orange rubber toy, while Dawson looks on.

* Pictured above right: Doogie sitting pretty. He was very happy to come through the doors and has been having a blast with Winston, Leroy, Muggles and Zipper.

July 27: Dog days of summer

Oh, to be a dog. Hanging out your furry friends, going for walks, taking afternoon naps, getting all excited for treats and yummy dinners.

I should point out we have two Spikes (one Yorkie, one shih tzu), to avoid confusion. Right now (1 p.m.) the dogs are playing chase after gobbling down their lunches. The morning walks are done and we'll take them out again in the afternoon.

* Looks like Max (Yorkie pictured above) is having a good day. He received a celebrity greeting when he arrived from all his buddies, including kisses from Dawson (chi). I think Max has a girrrl-friend!

* Pictured left: Lexy, Umber, Danger & Dawson.

* Also playing in the little chihuahua/yorkie pack are: Umber (chi), Mika (chi) and Danger (Maltese). Can't really call it ruff-and-tumble because they're all wrestling around, playing so gently, but rolling around on the dog beds. Very cute.

* Pictured: Spike & LG hogging Pat's lap!

* The more high-energy pack have been chasing each other from room to room. You can probably guess who this includes. Bechler (Boston Terrier) and Heidi (shnoodle) are leading the pack, zooming from room to room, with Scooby (Am'n Cocker Spaniel), Casper, Jasper, Spike (Yorkie) and LG all in there too - zipping up the ramps and bolting around. LG, Scooby and Heidi have also been playing tug of war with Bechler.

* Leroy (pictured left) really likes Spike (shih tzu) and Diamond (Papillon). They've been chilling out together this morning. Also in the laidback crew: Buttons, who didn't want to walk very far this morning. She plopped herself down in the cool grass for a break.

July 22: Power to the doggies

An interesting day today, to say the least... our block in North Burnaby had a massive power outage from 10:30 until 3 p.m.

The phone lines, computer (email & blog), fans, lights, etc were out all day. So if you were trying to email, phone, or were wondering where your photos were, blame BC Hydro! LOL.

Sorry, we won't have time now to update this blog properly, and we didn't have the chance to do a group photo. We're doing the second round of walks right now...

July 21: Jumping for joy

Check out this photo of Molly (Min Pin cross) getting some serious air time! And no, we didn't supply a spring board. This girl would be good at agility! All her friends look mesmerized, too... check out their curious faces.

We've got a good pack in here today. They're all intermingling, chasing each other around.

* Leroy (Cairns Terrier-cross) has been chasing Winston (beagle - pictured left, sitting pretty and watching his buddy Molly leap). Winston sings this happy play-song when he's wrestling Molly (hilarious!). They've also been chasing Yuki (Papillon), Lexy (chi-silky terrier) and leaping Molly.

* Buttons (cockapoo) sat perfectly for the group photo today (see the pic below). For some reason, she just wasn't into it yesterday and kept leaping off, encouraging other dogs to follow her lead. But today she was a little angel. :-)

* As you can see in the photo below, the tiny trio - Dawson (chi), Ozzy (Min Pin) and Molly - are best buds. They've been rolling around on the dog bed, playing. Ozzy's also been wrestling Yuki. And Dawson loves Mika (chi), Mika (maltese) and Bella (chi). Mika (maltese) surprised us by barking on her walk, but as soon as Pat corrected her, she stopped. Good girl.

* Bella (chi) has been playing up a storm with little Maggie (toy poodle). We haven't seen Maggie for a while and she's grown (a little)! She's still tiny though, LOL. She had a good appetite at lunch time and gobbled up her food. Bella's also been playing with LG (Yorkie-cross).

July 20: Never a dull Monday

Some people dread going to work on Monday morning, but for us, it's all fun and games... A little bit of tug of war, some relaxing walks in the sun, chucking the ball, picking up the littl'uns for cuddles.

The morning walks are done and we'll definitely be getting out there again soon. Gotta make the most of this sunshine. For an Ozzy, I'd say Nigel's tan could use a little work. LOL.

Okay, enough rambling. Here's what the dogs have been up to this morning:

* Buttons (cockapoo) has pep in her step today, with lots of energy on her walk. Pat thinks it may be her new haircut - she's strutting her stuff. Go girl!

* Dawson (chihuahua - pictured right) is back, and happily catching up with all her buddies. She's been wrestling Umber (chi) and Bobo (maltipoo). That's Umber and Dawson pictured left. The two of them have also been playing lots with Yuki (Papillon).

* Peekay (Yorkie) just got picked up. He's been staying with us for the past week. He was a very good boy and got lots of walks and made lots of new friends. Leroy (Cairns Terrier/Shnauzer cross) has settled in nicely, too. He's been wrestling Yuki and LG (Yorkie-cross) today.

* LG (pictured right) and his brother, Spike (Yorkie) have been chasing tag-team Jasper and Casper (Coton de Tulear) and Heidi (shnoodle) from room to room, and all over the red ramps in the back. Bechler (Boston Terrier - pictured left)'s been joining in, too, so it's quite a fast-moving pack or fur buzzing around. At this moment, Bechler (pictured left) and Spike are taking five-minute power naps.

* Sheraz (miniature Shnauzer) is having a good time, mingling with the pack. She looooves her walks and likes hanging out with Mika (not our Mika - the Maltese Mika) and Lexy (silky terrier-chi). Yep, there are two Mika's here today. Definitely one of my favourite names, but I'm biased, considering one of them is our dog (chihuahua). Mika the Maltese is kinda shy like our Mika and very adorable and friendly.

* Enid (Jack Russell) sure was happy to see Heidi today, running up to her to say hello. She also loved her walk with Pat and Linus (miniature dachshund). Linus was feeling a little shy for the group photo - Nigel and Pat kept trying to get him to look at the camera. LOL. He sure loves Heidi - smothering her with kisses. Bobo was cuddling up to Linus after his walk. Bobo's also been playing with Leroy and the chihuahuas (mentioned above).

* Max (Yorkie) got lots of kisses when he arrived from Heidi and Casper. He's been running around with Sasha (Papillon) today. The two of them are little buddies. They both really like Mika (Maltese) too.

July 17: A hot & sunny Friday

Hurray! We have both air conditioners hooked up today (for the first time) and it's actually nice and cool in here. Pretty steamy outside though... the walks were a little shorter than usual - don't want anyone getting dehydrated.

Today's top photo brought to you by Bechler the Boston Terrier, wearing his sun hat (Nigel was playing dress-up). He's been chasing Spike and LG, playing tug of war with Heidi, and wrestling Molly.

* Emmi and Peanut have also been running around with the pack. They were happy to see Judy and looooved their walk with her.

* Peekay and Leroy are being good boys, hanging out at Chateau Irwin with Mika and Lexy, and getting lots of playing in here. They're both eating well and getting lots of exercise. M & L are hanging out in the small room with their buddy, Emma.

* Yuki has been wrestling non-stop with Molly and Ozzy (Min Pin).

* How about this? We have a Maltese pack running around today! Bella's (Maltese) being really good today, running around with Danger (Maltese) and Mika (Maltese). Danger's also been making Frank (Yorkie) feel really comfortable here by showing him around and playing WRESTLE!

* Buttons and Mico, the laidback girls, have been hanging out again together. Buttons just gobbled up all her food but you should know her #2's are really runny today.

* Great to see Chopper again today! He's always so excited to come in through the doors and greet us humans.

July 16: Welcome back, Snoopy and Lady!

Snoopy's back today! He's been enjoying the summer holidays with his mom, so we haven't seen him for a while, and he's looking healthy - for a 16-year-old!

The dogs sure were happy to see him - mobbing him with kisses, as though he's Robert DeNiro or something...

We haven't seen Lady (puggle) for a while, either, and she sure was happy to greet all her old friends. She's been playing chase with Pepe (Havanese).

Once again, we're having a really busy day. We recruited my mom, Monica, for the day to help out (thanks mom!). So if you saw a new face here this morning while dropping off your dog, that's who it was. :-)

The morning walks are done, and it's really heating up out there. The air con sure feels nice in here... I just finished feeding lunches and we'll take the dogs out again in the afternoon.

* We have Leroy and Peekay staying us for boarding at the moment. Both are doing really great. They've become buddies, and they enjoy playing with our two dogs, Mika and Lexy. They're having fun at the daycare, too.

* Sheraz, Buttons, Mico and Enid are hanging out together. These three girls are the more mature, laidback dogs, just watching the puppies run circles around each other. LOL.

* Marley has been wrestling Spike, LG, Molly and Ozzy. Yuki's right in there too, always happy - tail wagging, ready to play with anyone who'll take him on. And Jasper and Casper (both Coton de Tulear) have been chasing everybody around, their fluffy tails drifting through the air like sailboat sails.

* We actually have two Jaspers here today - the other Jasper is a new puppy (eight-month-old Havanese) who's visiting from out of town for a few days. He's a bit timid but is getting along great so far with all the other dogs. I think it will take more socialization with other dogs his size before we'll see him break out of his shell.

* Bobo has been playing with Danger (both maltipoos) and cuddling up to Yuki.

July 15: Busy day!

Sorry for the delay in getting the blog posted. There's four of us here today but we've been super busy with grooming, walks and lunches.

Here's the group photo taken earlier. New record here... 31 dogs. Nigel and Pat said everyone posed really well for the puparazzi. They're getting really good at this!

July 14: Double trouble

Introducing... Zipper (pictured below left)! Cutest name ever, and such an adorable little dog.

Zipper is Muggles' (pictured right) new sister, and today is her first day at daycare. We love their matching t-shirts! Both puppies are Maltese, from the same litter.

* Little Zipper has been very courageous, running around with all the dogs and climbing all over her brother. She's been playing with Danger (another Maltese puppy), Yuki (Papillon) and Ozzy (Min Pin). Ozzy's girlfriend Dawson isn't here today, so he's entertaining himself with the two mini-dogs, Zipper and Muggles.

* Danger has also been wrestling Yuki and playing chase with Sasha (Papillon). Sasha got smothered in kisses from Muggles. It must be love...

* Muggles has been chasing LG and Pepe (Havanese), wrestling Yuki on the dog bed, rolling all over it, and pulling his 'lil sis around by her shirt, showing her around his stomping grounds. Zipper also ran up to Buttons (cockapoo - pictured left), the queen bee here, and smothered her in kisses. Awww...

* Marley (Havanese - pictured below, right) has been having fun chasing Muggles around. She's also been wrestling Jude (puggle) and chasing Spike (pictured left) and LG from room to room, super fast.

* Jasper and Casper have been right in there, too, running after the ball and chasing Spike, LG and Marley all over the ramps. LG has also been playing with Muggles and Jude. Jasper sure was curious about the new girl, Zipper, playing a cute pouncing/frolicking game.

* Peekay (Yorkie) is staying with us for boarding. He's been a very good boy, making lots of new friends at the daycare, and chilling with us at night. He didn't eat much the first couple of days but has settled in and is eating now. He says a big "HI!" to his parents. :-)

* Emma (miniature dachshund) is hanging out in the small room with her buddies, Mika and Lexy. We've been adding other dogs (Bobo and Danger) into there to keep her company, too. Her back seems to be getting much better.

July 13: Exciting day

Why is it an exciting day, you ask? Well, for one, our unborn baby is on the front page of The Vancouver Sun. I wrote an article about the 3D ultrasound we had done recently, which you can read at (FYI: Holloway is my maiden name):

And of course, it's an exciting day for the little doggies here. A new dog called Teko just arrived, and everyone's been happily greeting him hello. Here's what's been going on:

* Peekay (Yorkie) and Tonka (miniature dachshund) stayed with us and the girls (Mika and Lexy) last night. We took them for a walk, and they had a fun time hanging out and playing together. Poor Peekay got sprayed by a skunk last week and had to get a ton of baths to get the stink out, but you can hardly smell him now. Tonka's also been playing with Danger (Maltese) today. Danger really likes Peekay and Tonka.

* Bechler (Boston Terrier - pictured left) has been zooming around the place with Heidi (shnoodle), Jasper and Casper (Coton de Tulear), Spike (Yorkie) and LG (Yorkie-cross). They've been blasting around on the ramps and tackling Bechler. Jasper has also been playing with Muggles (Maltese pup). This pack has had a lot of energy this morning, running around!

* It's great to see Heidi again - she's had some time off with her mom on holiday. She's been making up for lost time, wrestling Ozzy (Min Pin) and chasing the high-energy dogs around the ramps.

* Teko (King Charles), the new dog, did a couple of barks when his mom left, but he's calmed down and is mingling with the other dogs. He likes Heidi and Ozzy but gets along with everyone. He's been doing lots of exploring and sniffing around.

* Little Muggles doesn't realize his tiny size (LOL!). He's not afraid to chase tail with the "big" kids, like Bechler. He's been doing lots of wrestling with Yuki (Papillon) this morning. Yuki was barking at birds on his walk. Bobo (maltipoo) has also been playing with these two, plus Danger.

* Pictured left: Yuki tries to eat the indestructable rubber ball.

* Emma (dachshund) is in the small room with Mika and Lexy. We added Teko and Bobo in there for a while, too, to give her some new buddies to socialize with. Buttons (cockapoo) is also have a nice day, chilling out in her usual spot. Lexy looooves her and gave her lots of kisses when she arrived.

July 10: Chihuahua power

Happy Friday, everyone!

A gorgeous, sunny day... bodes well for the weekend ahead. We're having a blast in here, playing with all the little dogs. As you can see, we have a few chihuahuas all lined up.

* Pictured from left to right in the photo above: Oliver, Umber, Mika, Henrik and Lexy. They're all little buddies, chasing tails and pouncing on one another. Little Muggles has also been wrestling with Tofu (Boston-Bulldog), Ozzy (Min Pin) and Maggie (Cairns Terrier).

* Pictured left: Muggles & Ozzy. Pictured right: Ozzy & Muggles.

* Ozzy tackled Muggles and Tofu in a three-way take-down wrestle... 3! 2! 1! Down! Oliver really likes Yuki, Umber and Muggles, and Henrik will play with anyone and everyone, pretty much. :-) Tonka (miniature dachshund) has enjoyed playing bulldozer with him.

* Jones (Bischon) has had a fun time with us this week, boarding. I think we've worn her out with all the exercise, daycare and walks. LOL. She's been doing LOTS of playing. Our two, Mika and Lexy, have had fun chasing her around the house on the carpets.

* Then we have Yuki (Papilllon), Maggie and Umber (chi - in the photo right) in another play-pack, frolicking around and doing some cool leap-frogging moves. Rico (pug-cross) is right in there too, giving Umber kisses and chasing Henrik (chi) around.

* And then there's Spike (Yorkie) and LG (Yorkie-cross), who've been chasing Bechler (Boston Terrier) around. No surprises there! These guys pretty inseparable.

* They've also been chasing Bobo (maltipoo). Bechler's also been wrestling Tofu and playing tug of war with LG. Bobo is Mr. Popular today, also playing with Tofu and Muggles, Rico and Henrik. That's Bobo pictured left with Maggie.

July 9: Pictures speak louder than words

Nigel's taken some killer photos this morning, so I'll load 'em up below. Morning walks are done, lunches fed, and the little munchkins are playing happily. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this page to see the group photo (only Theodore is missing - he arrived later).

* Pictured left is Ozzy (Min Pin) and Molly (Min Pin-cross) playing with the new rubber toy. Molly's also bee playing tug of war with Jude (puggle), and this orange chew toy has been very popular... everyone wants to play with it. Little Dawson (chi) has been playing with Ozzy, too.

* Not only has Jude been having a blast playing with Molly, but he's also been chasing Jasper and Casper (Coton de Tulear). The brothers (J&C) have also been running around with Yuki (Papillon), chasing him around the ramps, and wrestling with Jones (Bischon). They've been leaping around, chasing after the ball and bouncing off walls. Tonka (miniature dachshund) has also been bulldozing/wrestling Jones, his new girlfriend.

* Pictured above left, we have Danger (Maltese, right) in mid-air, going for Jones's jugular. Get 'er, Danger! He loves wrestling with her. Danger's been getting more confidence and playing more, also wrestling lots with Yuki.

* Check out this photo to the right of Buttons (cockapoo) with her paw on her buddy Mika's shoulder. Nigel took about 10 shots like this - they must have been posing for quite a while! LOL.

* Marley (Havanese) has been blasting around with Spike (Yorkie) and LG (Yorkie-cross), getting their exercise. Marley was also wrestling Mika and Lexy in a tumble-and-roll game earlier. I've since moved Mika and Lexy into the small-dog room to keep Emma (miniature dachshund) company, who is nursing a sore back. The three of them are buddies.

* Spike and LG have also been chasing Jasper and Casper over the ramps in the back, and playing with Pepe (Havanese). LG entertained us for a bit by chasing his tail - too cute. Pepe's also been rolling around (break-dancing) with Yuki.

* Bently (Yorkie) has also been playing lots with Yuki and chasing Jones around. His buddy, Theodore (also a Yorkie), just arrived, so I expect they'll be playing together lots... We're really excited to hear Theodore (Teddy) might be getting a brother or sister this weekend - a white Yorkie! Can't wait to meet him/her.

* This photo below of Jude and Molly is classic... had to run it big. Check out the teeth!

June 8: Bark-tacular day

How do you like this gorgeous pic of Rico, taking time out to smell the flowers? This photo was sent in by his mom. If you've got a cool pic of your dog, feel free to send 'em in and I'll add them to the blog!

We've got lots of lunches to feed to today so Pat is busily dishing out kibble while I (Katya) type this. The morning walks are done and we'll be taking everyone out again this afternoon. There are a couple of dogs who are out of food now for lunches, so scroll down to the bottom of this blog to see if your dog needs a top-up.

We have two Maximus's here today, so I'll call black Maximus (terrier-cross) by his full name, and Maximus (Yorkie - pictured right) as Max, to avoid confusion...

* At this moment, Katie (Sheltie), Max (Yorkie), Yuki (Papillon) and Umber (chi) are engaged in a rolly-polly game of leapfrog, wrestling all over each other. They've been at it for at least 20 mins now... Yuki's also been wrestling Gus (American cocker spaniel). The two of them are pictured left.

* Funny thing about Gus is he is probably one of the bigger dogs here, but he loves to play with the real little guys. Muggles (tiny Maltese puppy) was chasing him around earlier, as was Muggles's sidekick, Tofu (Boston-Bulldog puppy). Tofu follows Muggles around everywhere (BFF). That's the two of them pictured below, left.

* Katie's been chasing after the ball lots (her fav game) with Jasper, Casper (both Coton de Tulear), Spike, LG and Max (Yorkie). Jasper and Casper have also been playing with Jones (Bishon), Sofie (Yorkie), Dawson (chi), Muggles (Maltese) and Daisy (shih tzu), who have a little playgroup going on. Jones and Sofie are at it right now, wrestling. That's Dawson and Muggles curled up together in the photo to the right.

* Earlier, there was a cute game of "catch me if you can" going on between Casper, Jones, Daisy, Bella (chi-Jack Russell) and Sofie. Danger's been in there too, wrestling with Jones and LG.

* Maggie (Cairns Terrier) had to leave earlier because her dad's car broke down, but she still had a little playtime and a good walk with Pat and Jones before she left. Tuka (American eskimo - pictured left) also left before lunch time, but he did some good mingling with the pack, and enjoyed his walk with Pat and Umber (chihuahua). Nigel says Tuka has a very cool haircut - kinda looks like a Mohawk - long on top, shorter on the sides. You trendsetter, Tuka!

* Tonka (miniature dachshund) is wrestling with Umber right now. Or should I say, bulldozing into her? LOL. That's his new girlfriend.

* Lexy and Mika are in the small room, keeping Emma (miniature dachshund) company. Emma has a sore back but she sure looks good today - she was even playing a little (gently) with her companions. Buttons (cockapoo) received a warm welcome from her best friend, Lexy, when she arrived, getting lots of kisses.

* In the laidback pack, we have Mico (shih tzu), who's been cruising around with the pack, and Maximus (terrier-cross), who just got his nails trimmed and teeth brushed in the Spaw. Charlie (shih tzu) is also in the Spaw right now, so I don't have much to say about him at the moment, except that apparently he was a VERY good boy for his bath!

* Yuki didn't eat breakfast, but ate his kibble for lunch. Yuki's bag is now empty, so we'll need more food for him for next time.

* Tonka ate lunch. He's out of kibble now, so can you bring some more for next time?

July 7: Na, na, na, na, na...

Look at Muggles (Maltese), sticking his tongue out at Dawson (chi). "Come and geeeeet me!" Jude (puggle) was also playing, until he saw the camera. Love it!

It's a rainy, grey day out there, but we're optimistic it will clear up by the weekend. Not that the dogs care - they have fun, no matter what. The morning walks are done, lunches are fed, and it's PLAYTIME! This is what's been going on:

*Jones (Bischon) is boarding with us right now. She's been a really good girl, playing with our dogs, doing lots of running around here, and sleeping quietly at night. Mom and dad, if you're reading this from Vegas, nothing to worry about - she's eating well and getting lots of exercise! Today she's been frolicking around with Danger (Maltese) puppy and Bobo (maltipoo) - the three little white dogs rolling around in a ball of white fur.

* Rico (pug-Havanese) has been on a wrestling mission, tackling his buddy Marley (Havanese) and Chico (chihuahua). He's also been playing lots with Yuki (Papillon). Yuki's a little lady's dog, getting kisses from Muggles. That's Rico and Jude pictured left. Does Rico look guilty of something?

* Marley had a burst of energy this morning and was zooming all over the place with Rico, Spike (Yorkie) and LG (Yorkie-cross). She's actually conked out right now, re-energizing for her afternoon wrestle-sesh with Mika (chi), no doubt.

* Also playing in the Spike-LG-Marley pack are Molly and Winston (these two love each other), and the super-friendly Lola (cockapoo), who's been chasing after Winston, wrestling Rico and Bobo.

* Sasha (Papillon) has been chasing after the ball with Jude and Rico - go girl! And Rolo (pug) has been right in there, wrestling with Jude, Winston and Rico. Ahhh... an action-packed morning, for sure.

* Muggles, Dawson and Chico are a little pack of playthings, all under four pounds. They've all been playing together, but aren't afraid to play with the bigger dogs too (that's the benefit of socializing your pups while they're young).

* Muggles (pictured left) has been planting Winston (beagle-cross) with lots of kisses, and climbing all over Jude (same with Chico). Jude's also been wrestling with Molly (Min Pin-cross) and Winston. Ozzy (Min Pin) has also been running around with the small-dog pack. Check out the photo at the bottom of this blog of Winston, Molly and Lexy playing!

* Buttons (cockapoo) started screaming (with delight!) when I arrived... (it's Katya writing). I mean, she went berzerk! Talk about a grand entrance. Maybe she thought it was lunch time? Ha ha... we love ya, Buttons.

July 6: Happy Monday

Hope you had a great weekend! We took the dogs to Confederation Park in Burnaby for a walk and play in the dog park on Saturday. That's an awesome spot for dogs, in case you haven't been there. They have a small dog enclosure, but the bigger dog enclosure had more going on. Great for a weekend play.

Saying that, we've just heard word from another daycare in Burnaby about a small kennel cough outbreak. We haven't had any cases here (and aren't expecting to because none of their dogs come to our daycare). However, if your dog ever comes down with a cough, DO NOT bring them to daycare, or even to a public park or pet store. Please leave them at home and notify us.

Looks like a pack of happy, healthy dogs in here today. The morning walks are done, lunches are fed, and we've got some games of chase going on. Here's what's happening:

* Jones (Bischon) is staying us for boarding right now. She arrived Sunday and we took her to the park. She chased our dogs around the house on the carpet, and pooped herself out. Today she's regained some energy and has been playing with Umber (chihuahua), Danger (Maltese) and Muggles (Maltese). Danger looooves Jones. So does Tonka (miniature dachshund), who's been wrestling with her, and chasing Umber.

* Muggles has also been chasing Umber and Dawson (both chihuahuas). The three of them are all so tiny - under 4 pounds... so cute! Umber invited Molly (Min Pin-cross) into their little pack.

* Molly's small too but she's feisty - I bet she could take on a Labrador! In fact, she's been wrestling the big kids: Bechler and Frankie (both Boston Terriers) this morning. Go get 'em, girl. Also in the littl'uns pack: Ozzy (Min Pin - pictured left), who's been playing lots with his girlfriends Molly, Umber and Dawson. Pic of Bechler and Molly at the very top.

* Frankie has also been playing tug-of-war with Bechler and wrestling Molly.

* Buttons (cockapoo) has been super hyper today, chasing after the ball, wrestling Bechler and then conked out next to LG. Er, not really. She's chilled out as usual, hanging with the laidback dogs and doing some mingling.

* Brothers Jasper and Casper (Coton de Tulear) had last week off, so we were happy to see their fluffy, smiley faces today. The boys have been wrestling Dawson (chihuahua), playing ball, and chasing each other all over the ramps in the back room - making up for lost time.

* Jasper and Casper have also been playing with Spike and LG. Spike (Yorkie), wrestling Casper and LG in one rolling ball of fur, and LG wrestling with Bechler and chasing Mika (chihuahua). Lola (cockapoo) has also been chasing after the ball. Her best buddy this morning has been Lexy (chi-silky terrier) - they've been tackling each other, Lola pinning Lexy to the ground. Go, Lola!

July 3: Cool dogs

Hurray for air conditioning! We just doubled up on our air con system and all those hot dogs are now cool... We still have to hook up the 2nd machine so it will be even better next week.

Don't get me wrong - loving the sunshine and warm weather. Keep it coming...

Check out Gus (American cocker spaniel) sitting on a perch in today's class photo, keeping an eye on the troops.

And this is what's been going on (oh, and to avoid confusion, we have a Frank and Frankie here today - they're not the same dog):

* Right this minute, Yuki (Papillon) is wrestling Maximus (Yorkie). He's been playing lots with Gus and Theodore (Yorkie), too. We took the ball away from Theodore so he'd play more with the other dogs, and he's chasing after Frankie (Boston Terrier) right now.

* Buttons (cockapoo) had a warm welcome when she arrived from her biggest fan: Lexy (chi-silky terrier). Buttons loves the cool air, but really doesn't like the new air conditioning unit. She did a wide walk manoevre around the humming, cold-blowing monster!

* Mika (chi) and Lexy have been playing with Wolfie (Papillon), Lola (Papillon) and Muggles (Maltese). There's Wolfie pictured left, waving "HI!" to his parents in California! He's boarding with us right now.

* It's great to see Chopper (chi-pom) again! He's been running around with his old buddies, Mika and Lexy, and is really curious about Jones and Danger, giving them sniffs and following them around.

* Muggles, Dawson (chihuahua) and Ozzy (Min Pin) have an adorable little pack going. They've also been playing with Mika and chasing big (in comparison) Gus around, which is quite hilarious. Gus & Ozzy pictured right.

* Jones (Bischon) loves wrestling with Muggles. She's also been going at it with Tonka (miniature dachshund) and Danger (Maltese). Danger has been pretty playful today, also playing chase with Theodore and Frank (both Yorkies). Tonka's twin, Dash, has been frolicking around with Muggles and Jones.

* Spike and LG have been chasing Frankie around and playing ball with Theodore and Lola (cockapoo). They made a new Yorkie buddy today called Frank (all three of them pictured left). Frank's been doing great - it's his second day so daycare's still new, and he's kinda timid, but he's been playing with Danger and he really likes Theodore (another Yorkie about his size).

* Tui and Alley were chasing Bobo (maltipoo) around a minute ago. Lola (cockapoo) has also been playing with Bobo, but more in a rough-and-tumble, wrestling and rolling around kinda way.

July 2: Blue skies, wagging tails

Hope you all had a fabulous day off yesterday! We went to Burnaby Park with four dogs for a picnic. That was fun, except Lexy got in trouble for barking at a Min Pin puppy. Arrgghh... Lexy.

It's warming up outside, but nice and cool in here. The morning walks are done and we'll be doing some more around 3 p.m. Seems like the pups have begun their summer bikini diets today though - eating very lightly. Scroll down to see if your dog ate.

* Wolfie and Lola (Papillons), who have been staying with us for boarding, have been running around with Jones (Bischon) this morning. Jones and Lola, especially, are new best friends. Danger (Maltese puppy) also loves playing with Jones. Wolfie & Lola had a super time at the park yesterday and have been having a blast chasing Mika and Lexy around our house.

* Buttons was happy to see us again this morning. Such a happy dog! She curled up with Mika (Maltese) on her blanket earlier, sharing her resting spot with her. Mika also cuddled up with Tui and Alley. She's been making lots of friends, but especially likes the gentle, more laidback doggies.

* Tui (Yorkie-cross) and Alley (Brussels) have also been doing some playing today, wrestling Jones (Bischon) and chasing Bechler (Boston Terrier). Scroll down to the bottom of this blog for a great pic of Tui and Alley!

* Tea party time? Check out LG and Maggie having a nice 'cuppa to the left.

* Bechler is actually taking a little dog-nap right now. He takes these five-minute power naps and then bursts back into life! He's been chasing Marley (Havanese), Spike (Yorkie), LG (Yorkie-shih tzu), Jones, Maggie (Cairns Terrier), Frankie (Boston Terrier) and Winston (beagle-cross) in a high-energy pack. Winston and Frankie have been doing some pouncing/chase games too. This whole pack has been running around all morning, playing tag, chasing after the ball, running all over the ramps. No surprise then that it's power-nap time...

* Little Dawson (chihuahua) sure was happy to see Ozzy (Min Pin) today (and vice versa)! They've been inseparable, frolicking arond. Ozzy has also been wrestling with Maggie, when she isn't busy chasing Winston.

* Lui Lui (Jack Russell-chi) is still a bit grumpy and standoff-ish today. She's great with us humans but perhaps it will take her a couple more days to get back into the swing of things, playing with the other dogs again.

* Mico (shih tzu) is a little angel, just hanging with the pack and giving us humans attention. She chased Dash (miniature dachshund) for a bit, which was pretty cute. Dash has also been wrestling Marley (Havanese), and his buddy Tonka (twin-like miniature dachshund) just arrived.

Did your dog eat lunch?

* Buttons ate all.

* Dawson ate breakfast, and a little bit for lunch.

* Lui Lui wasn't hungry.

* Ozzy ate a little bit.

* Mika ate a little.

* Frankie ate all his lunch.

* Danger ate a little.

* Tonka just arrived, so we'll feed him lunch.
