Feb. 27: Happy Birthday LG!

It's LG's first birthday today, and he celebrated with 21 of his friends!

His dad brought in a doggie birthday cake, and even goodie bags for his little friends to bring home.
Here's a YouTube video of his birthday paw-ty.

Feb. 26: Here comes the puparazzi

Hurray... we bought a new camera! Our old one broke yesterday, but we didn't like it much anyway. It didn't focus too well for the group photos. So now we have a brand spanking new Nikon camera.

At this very moment, Max is wrestling with his girflriend Jones, and Bobo has jumped into the mix for a play. Check out this YouTube video of Max & Jones battling it out! Visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv9L504eh-A

LG, Spike, Lady and Winston are a blur of fur and teeth, playing chase and rolling around in a huge ball.

Buttons is chilling out on her red blanket, Snoopy is camping out in his cave in the back room, a new dog called Chester is hanging out with Charlie (both shih tzus). Charlie and Lady have been wrestling lots this morning, too.

Mika and Lexy are trying to catch some zzzz's on the new dog bed (Thanks Aleisha for the bed!), curled up with Marley, who's taking a power nap following a busy morning of chasing the pack around.

Dioji has just been picked up, but he had a blast today especially with Winston and Lady - two of his best buds.

The morning walks have been done. It's still cold out there! Brr... but at least it's sunny. Nearly lunch time (for the dogs, that is).

Here's a photo taken this afternoon. Sorry we didn't get everyone in - a few dogs left early today and the camera was charging.

Feb. 25: Nasty weather, nice dogs

It's alternating between rain and snow out here... what happened to Spring?

Well the good news is we heard back from Future Shop today and the diagnostics on our PC showed the virus didn't destroy everything. Now they're killing the virus, and hopefully all of our data can be saved.

It's been tough working off a laptop with none of our business email addresses, no hookup to the printer (so no report cards) and no access to any of our business data. A lesson learned, folks: Back everything up on your home computers!

Another lesson learned: Don't place the camera down on a bench of a dog daycare. Another camera beats the dust! Nice one, Nig... hopefully we'll have a new camera this week.

Of course, the dogs are having fun. It's nice and warm in here and they've been chasing each other around all morning. Here's a few photos for ya, taken this morning before the camera broke:

Feb. 24: Dog pile

First of all, sorry for posting these so late! The blogging website was down all day yesterday, so I couldn't log in to post these photos. So here they are, finally.

Okay, so usually Nigel does those fantastic group photos with all the dogs sitting pretty, looking straight at the camera. But today I (Katya) had a try, and I think you'll agree the photos resemble more of a dog pile than a class photo.

Still kinda funny though...

Thought I'd post a few group photos so you can have a selection to cruise through. Also, if you click on the images, they come up larger, and you can drag them onto your desktop to keep.

Feb. 23: It's Spaw day!

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope you all had relaxing weekends. We're having some technical difficulties here at the daycare today thanks to a computer virus. Our computer has been shipped off to Future Shop to get debugged, so in the meantime, we're working off a laptop which doesn't have any of or business contacts, emails or report cards on it.

This means we won't be emailing photos today or tomorrow, and we won't have report cards. Gasp! Noooo!!! Sorry about this. We're hoping to get our computer back in the next couple of days.

It will just make you appreciate them more when they return, right?

In the meantime, visit this blog each day for updates and the latest photos (like today's fabulous class photo!). It's now noon and we're about to start lunches. Morning walks have been done, and there are 20 dogs here. The Spaw is packed, with Maori working busily at the grooming station.

Lots of playing and running around going on right now! We've got the rubber toys out, they're playing chase, tug-of-war, wrestle and dog-tag.

Sending you woofs! and smiles from the funnest daycare in the Lower Mainland.

Feb. 20: Sunny Friday

Coming soon....
Is your dog a star? Does he/she have what it takes to work in the movies? Or pose for magazine photo shoots?

We'll be offering a 2 1/2-hour workshop in April for dogs and their owners who'd like to learn the skills to make it in the movies. So exciting! Details to come...

And what's happening today, you ask? Well, the usual games and mischief, plus lots of long walks in the sun. We have to make the most of this lovely weather, right?

Here's a few photos from today:

Feb. 19: All tucked in

Say hello to the new chihuahua puppy! Isn't she adorable?

So we have a bit of a theme with a few of today's photos. It's called "Rest time." Kind of ironic, though, considering they've been playing all morning - chasing ball, going for walks, wrestling... but I'm sure by the early afternoon they'll be ready to crash out.

Here's some photos from this morning!

Feb. 18: Happy Birthday Bobo!

Bulbasaur (aka Bobo) turned one today! And what a lucky boy, his parents bought him a yummy liver-flavoured cake from the dog bakery on Hastings.

Oh, the anticipation... the dogs were drooling, tongues were licking... they could smell that cake in the front of the group photo and couldn't wait to tuck in.

Happy Birthday Bobo! From all your friends at Small Paws.

Feb. 17: Happy Birthday Sofie!

Sofie, the little Yorkie, turns one today. Nigel put a magical birthday hat on her, furry friends crowded 'round, giving her birthday kisses, and she posed for the puparazzi in front of a birthday cake toy with candles.

Happy birthday, Sofie. Woof!
Also, check out the two cuties - Max and Maggie - on the chair... so adorable.

Feb. 16: Small pleasures

As Nigel says, small dogs have big hearts! Here's a few of the cuties today.

Another great day for walks! Let's hope this sunshine continues...

Friday the 13th

How un-spooky could this Friday the 13th be? The sun is shining, dogs are frolicking, birds are chirping...

Maybe it's because love is in the air! Puppies are handing out valentines, cuddling up for photos, dog-piling and wrestling. It's a great day for daycare.

Feb. 12: Tail wags

These class photos take a lot of time and patience, as you can imagine. It helps that the dogs really listen to Nigel's commands, and in the past few weeks we've been practising the "stay" command with them.

Today was kind of funny, though, because Nigel's had some interesting incidents with liquids. By liquids, I mean dog urine. And coffee. All over his clothes.

First came the (completely unexpected) yellow spray, and later, in a bit of a fluster, he knocked coffee all over himself.

All in a day's work at dog daycare!

PS - 25 pups here today... woof

Feb. 11: So many furry friends

Woof! From all of us at Small Paws...

The littl'uns keep trickling in (up to 22 now), and we have the pups divided into two rooms for maximum play potential.

Have a fang-tastic day. :-)

Feb. 10: What's in the toy box?

We've just gone out and bought a whole bunch of new, indestructable, rubber toys. The dogs have been playing chase, tug, and chewing...

A new chihuahua puppy has arrived - he's really confident and made lots of friends straight away. Have a look at these adorable pix!
